At 23 m in height, Athabasca Falls may not be the tallest waterfall in the Canadian Rockies but it is one of the most powerful, due to the sheer volume of water flowing into the gorge from the Athabasca River, fed by the massive Columbia Icefield.
The interpretive trail runs along the Athabasca River. This 1km hike is great for the whole family to enjoy breathtaking views of the fast-rushing water. A concrete bridge runs across the gorge and the while trail is paved making it very accessible.
