Located about 15 km northwest of Wainwright, a rest stop and lookout point overlooks the historic Battle River Railway Trestle. This trestle was the largest in Canada upon its completion in 1908 and is still in use. Information boards about the bridge’s history can be found at the lookout point.

Along with information about the history of the trestle, the lookout point also features a stunning view of Battle River and the valley below. In the later hours, it makes for the perfect spot to go and watch the sunset over the prairies. And if you’re lucky, you might see a train crossing the trestle and see this piece of history in use.

So go for a short hike along the trail, and admire the natural and artificial beauty of the area.
