Situated around the escarpment face in Wiarton are the Bruce Caves. The caves were formed by the wave action of post-glacial Lake Algonquin between 7000 – 8000 years ago and show the impacts of different physical and chemical weathering rates over time.
Today, these caves are popular tourist attractions, and the conservation area is a great spot to enjoy a day out in nature. There are some spectacular views of the countryside, several hiking trails, and of course, spectacular cave systems for visitors to explore.
