Callander Bay Heritage Museum & Alex Dufresne Gallery

This museum is where Dr. Dafoe once lived and practiced. If you are curious about the stories of Dr. Dafoe, the Dionne Quintuplets, as well as local historical businesses and industries, then this is the place for you.

Read more about the Dionne Quintuplets and Allan Roy Dafoe | People of Small Towns

One of the exhibits houses a barber shop from the early 20th century.

It is not only locals that visited Dr. Dafoe. Celebrities such as Amelia Earhart, Jimmy Stewart, and Bette Davis came and saw him during the 1930s and 1940s, and Brooke Shields stopped by in 2016 when she was filming a movie nearby.

If you are interested in art, the Alex Dufresne Art Gallery hosts local art shows throughout the year. You never know what pieces you might see when you come here!

They are open only from Thursday to Saturday (10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.).

Beautiful and accessible all year round, this relatively easy trail can be enjoyed on foot, bike, on snowshoes, and more! During your trek, you can find a view of the Cranberry Marsh, and if you keep going, you will eventually see Callander Bay. There are also several benches along the way, so you can take the time to have a little break and enjoy the peaceful setting.

Please note that ATVs and motorbikes are prohibited, smoking is not allowed, plants and trees must not be damaged, dogs must be on a leash and cleaned up after, and it is advised that you keep to the right of the path.

Lynn’s Urban Roots

This fun shop is a must-visit for anyone remotely interested in indoor plants. Regardless of whether you have a green thumb and a thriving jungle of a living room or you are a novice who can only seem to keep artificial leaves from shrivelling into crumbly decay, Lynn—the friendly owner—has something for everyone. You want a plant that’s super independent and kind of like the cat that ignores you? Lynn has it. You want something with an exotic name that sounds like it was made by a random character generator? Yes, Lynn has that, too.

You will enter to find stalks shooting up and buds flowing out from pots and baskets of varying sizes, and you will inevitably leave with a new member of your family. Just remember to be thoughtful when choosing its name—plants have feelings, too.

Lake Nipissing Ice Fishing Charters

Many have gone fishing before… but have you tried ice fishing?

There’s just something about the still, icy landscape that gives you tranquillity like no other—almost as if you are frozen (no pun intended) in time. See your breath form clouds in the chilly air, and wait for the thrill that spikes when you get a tug from beneath the opaque grounds.

The well-equipped huts accommodate up to 4, 6, or 8 people. You do need to bring some essentials, though—like food and a fishing license. For all rates, discounts, and additional information, check out their website or call them!
