The Canadian Energy Museum is a hands-on education centre that teaches you the history of Alberta’s first oil discovery. You will get the opportunity to enter the World’s Largest Drill Bit, learn how fossil fuels are created, and even participate in a learning lab to create alternative energy. In addition, they offer tours that will guild you through geological time, opening conversations on the past, present and future of the energy section and the relationship with Canada’s landscape.
The museum was previously named the Leduc #1 Energy Discovery Centre to honour the work of those who first struck oil in January of 1947. It was also created to celebrate Albertan oilfield works and the emergence of Canada’s energy sector. The name change made in 2019 to “Canadian Energy Museum” symbolizes Canada’s progress as an energy state.
