Projet Éole

Projet Éole, known as the Éole Project, is located in Gaspésie of Cap-Chat. This is the world’s tallest vertical axis wind turbine, built in the mid-1980s.

This site was the beginning of Québec’s research on renewable energies. Since 1993, it no longer produces electricity and has become a tourist attraction, accessible for the public to tour. The team of Projet Éole aims to spread awareness of the development of wind energy.

Camping et chalets Baie des Capucins

Camping et chalets Baie des Capucins is a wonderful and simple campground by the bay. There are cabins for rent at the gates of Haute-Gaspésie, and no RVs and various tents in sight. This became an incredible spacious setting for nature lovers.

The camping is located at the edge of Baie des Capucins where visitors can admire the beauty of the water. This is a stunning camping spot because of the scenery.

Visitors are provided with fire pits, tables, chairs, a large parking lot, and pedestrian paths.

Phare Cap-Chat

Phare Cap-Chat is the lighthouse built in 1871. A more advanced lighthouse replaced it in 1909.

Go to the beach, go hiking, observe marine mammals or visit the lighthouse keeper’s house. Don’t miss the flowery paths to enjoy the amazing view of the St. Lawrence River and the community gardens.

The Phare Cap-Chat site is a campground with cottages and yurts for accommodation if you plan to camp here!

Zec de la Rivière-Cap-Chat

Zec de la Rivière-Cap-Chat is a magnificent site that is also a controlled harvesting area within the Chic-Choc Mountains by the Islet stream. Come to camp, fish, hunt, canoe, kayak, hike, and mountain bike.

On-site, there are cottages and cabins available for accommodation. Here you can fish for salmon, brook trout, and rainbow trout and hunt moose, black bear, and small game.

If you like to hunt or fish, this is the place for you! Even if you want to camp, coming here is nice as you are surrounded by nature.

Centre De Plein Air

Winter activities can be experienced at the Centre De Plein Air! This is an amazing site for outdoor sports lovers, such as skiing, snowboarding, tube sliding, ice skating, and snowshoeing!

There are abundant good snow conditions, and the mountain of 203 meters in altitude has wonderful slopes for downhill skiing and snowboarding. Equipment rental services are available for those that need them. While you are having a splendid time here, you get an incredible view of the Chic-Chocs Mountains. It will be a winter wonderland for winter sports lovers.

Maison Des Verrier is an art gallery that specializes in glass-made pieces. Glassmakers have up to 15 years of experience in glass blowing. The art gallery presents fascinating glass craftsmanship.

Visitors can purchase on-site sales, glass experience activity, and sand casting activity. Items for sale include jewelry, vases, and costume pieces! For the glass experience, you can choose the shape and colour of your piece and work together with a master glassmaker to design a unique piece of your own.
