Chetwynd Chainsaw Carving

Chainsaw Sculpture Capital of the World

Chetwynd has beautifully handcrafted chainsaw sculptures of mythical beasts, athletes, movie characters, gods, monsters, animals and more.

The chainsaw carving project began as part of the Rendezvous ’92 Committee, which was created to help with the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the construction of the Alaska (Alcan) highway.

These sculptures can be found outside or inside local businesses. With a map in hand, stroll through town for photo opportunities with sculptures. Now there are more than 120 carvings around town. Many carvings are from contests, as the town holds a contest annually.

Moberly Lake Provincial Park

Moberly Lake Provincial Park is on the southern shore of Moberly Lake between the Rocky Mountain foothills to the west and the Peace plateau to the east. The lake lies in a broad, shallow valley of the Moberly River.

Enjoy a stroll along the lakeshore and pull up a bench to watch the sunset. While there, listen to the loons or look overhead for bald eagles. Head down to the lake for a swim or to test your luck fishing for northern pike, lake trout and lake whitefish.

Joe’s Pizza Stone

Pizza Haven is an authentic pizza parlour that uses a unique method – hot stones – to cook the pizza. The restaurant uses its in-house dough and sauce and is a favourite amongst the locals of Chetwynd. There are some unconventional or untypical topping combinations, but somehow they all make perfect sense. Choose from a menu of pizzas, or build your own.
