Kootenay-Columbia Discovery Centre

Located on the traditional land of the Ktunaxa Nation, the centre is home to hundreds of different species of flora and fauna. This wetland is recognized by UNESCO and spreads knowledge on the importance of the environment and how biodiversity is significant to First Nations’ culture.

Visitors of all ages are welcome to enjoy a region tour from May to October. Whether you engage in a self-guided tour and walk around the land or a guided canoe tour at a low cost, you’ll surely enjoy the beauty of this wetland.

The Blueberry Patch Country Market is an excellent place for picking fresh berries with a gorgeous view. From the farm, visitors can enjoy the sight of the Scenic Purcell Mountains while picking fresh and organically grown blueberries.

Home Town of Johnny Bucyk

John Paul “Chief” Bucyk was an ice hockey left winger. He is a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Bucyk was born in Edmonton to Ukrainian immigrants. He played most of his career with the Boston Bruins since the late 1950s. In the late ’60s and early ’70s, Johnny lived in Creston. His wife was from Creston Valley. The arena in Creston is named after the Chief – Johnny Bucyk Arena. Johnny Bucyk has a summer property on Kootenay Lake north of Creston.

Skimmerhorn Winery and Vineyard

The Skimmerhorn Estate Winery produces its wines using only the grapes grown on their land.

The vines planted in 2003 spread across seventeen acres of the property. Between Thursday and Monday, swing by the Skimmerhorn Winery and Vineyard to enjoy an afternoon of wine tasting on a patio with a beautiful view. In addition to a selection of finely crafted wines, pick a charcuterie board from the menu to accompany the tasting.

Creston Golf Club

Whether a beginner or an extremely skilled golf player, the Creston Golf Club welcomes you to participate in a game. The golf course was founded in 1954 and has since been recognized as one of the greatest venues.

The course is a Par 72 with tees ranging from 5,285 to 6,433 yards and was designed to allow players to enjoy the beautiful view during a game. While playing, you can enjoy the scenery and might also happen to see some fauna.
