Église Sainte-Amélie was the first Catholic Church to be built in the town after Baie-Comeau was founded in 1937. This historical church was built in 1939 and 1940, with the ceiling fresco being nearly 1,500 m2 as realized by Guido Nincheri. It contains three bells named Robert, Arthur, and Catherine, which were moulded in France before the Second World War. The church offers guided visits that introduce the history of its construction, along with the presentation of the many art pieces that adorn the walls and ceiling.
It has since been classified as a heritage building that constitutes the historical culture of the region. The locals treasure it as an establishment based on artistic values with cultural and social implications. There are a total of four marble sculptures on site that are also preserved as treasured historical objects. Visit the wonderful Église Sainte-Amélie and encounter the historical art and objects of worship from the past!
