History

Originally built in 1839 as a safety measure during the Aroostook War between Great Britain and America, Fort Ingall is a designated historical monument. The present-day site features an authentic reconstruction of the fort that houses a museum containing various exhibits and artifacts detailing the history of the war and the fort.

Open from June to September every day; the unique monument offers guided tours that outline the lives of the soldiers that lived here during the war and visits to archeological digs on site. There is also a campground and barrack-style dormitory accommodation available for visitors to immerse themselves in the location’s history fully.
