The Gem of the West Museum came into existence in 1995 when a group of residents suggested the old church building be preserved for historical purposes and be turned into a museum. This group of residents eventually became the Gem of the West Museum Society, which, to this day, oversees the museum’s operations. Although it first opened as only a museum, the purpose of the building has been expanded to host both public and private events.
The Gem of the West Museum is open from June to August on weekdays between 9:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m, on Saturday from 10:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m, and is closed on Sundays. In September, the Museum has reduced hours, only being open on weekdays between 9:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m. Admission rates vary depending on age, with the highest rate being only $5 for adults!
