Zoo de Granby

The Zoo de Granby, a finalist for the Excellent Tourism Award in 2018 by the Alliance of the Tourism Industry of Quebec, makes for the perfect afternoon or even full-day family activity on your trip to Granby! With about 1500 animals belonging to over 225 species (90 being marine species), there is much to see and discover. In particular, the Zoo de Granby features many species of animals native to the continent of Asia.

Bring the kids along for a day of seeing exotic animals while simultaneously experiencing a fun learning opportunity. You can also take advantage of the free internet access and the onsite recharge stations for electric vehicles during your visit.

The Musée Canadien de L’Arme et Du Bronze (Canadian Army and Bronze Museum) is a popular establishment in Granby. Here, you will find many rare, unique, and historically significant types of arms used in the wars and conflicts that Canada has partaken in.

Parc Daniel-Johnson

Located right along the edge of Boivin Lake, Parc Daniel-Johnson is a hidden jewel of Granby. There are many facilities to use and activities to partake in at this park, such as water activities, soccer, beach volleyball, skateboarding, picnics at the picnic tables, a playground in the summer, and ice skating, tubing, hockey, and sledging in the winter.

The park also executes equipment rentals in the summer months, allowing you to enjoy a variety of water sports, including canoeing, kayaking, and paddleboarding. Forget to bring your ball, skates, or rackets to the park? Don’t worry; they rent those out too! There is even a designated skiing area in the winter for those who own their ski gear.

Palace de Granby

The Palace de Granby is a performing arts centre converted from an old movie theatre. It is excellent for some memorable entertainment during your travels!

With over 100 events held annually, we enjoy concerts, dance shows, magic, and comedy acts. The location is in downtown Granby makes access to the theatre very convenient. The Palace de Granby is also the host of the International Festival of the Song of Granby, which attracts many tourists to the town annually, so be sure to stop the event if dates fall during your visit!

Additionally, it is situated around various restaurants, so be sure to grab a bite to eat afterwards.

Distillerie de la Chaufferie

The Distillerie de la Chaufferie is a Granby distillery well known for its tasty drinks (particularly gin and vodka) and welcoming ambiance.

The distillery was first created by Bryan Furlong, who wanted to follow an English tradition of making authentic gin. Eventually, he was joined by more employees to create the twelve-man team that operates the Distillerie de la Chaufferie today. A must-visit for anyone of age who is keen on having a drink or two!

Centre d’InterprĂ©tation de la Nature du Lac Boivin

The Centre d’InterprĂ©tation de la Nature du Lac Boivin, translating to the Lake Boivin Interpretation Centre of Nature is classified as an important zone of the conservation of birds in Granby.

Over 260 species of birds call this outdoor conservation area home, and many endangered species have also found refuge in it. Besides observing the incredible diversity of wildlife at the centre, you can also spend time at the exposition room and boutique. Outside, there are also areas where you can enjoy skiing and snow racketing. The centre truly appeals to such a diverse range of interests all in one location!

Home Town of Gilles Carle

Gilles Carle was a key figure in developing Québec cinema, one of the most prolific and important talents in the Canadian film industry.

An Officer of the Order of Canada, a Grand Officer of the National Order of Québec and a Knight in France’s Légion d’honneur, he received numerous international prizes, Genies, Canadian Film Awards and a Governor General’s Performing Arts Award.

He lived in Granby and died here in 2009.
