Built in 1921, the Grand Bank Lighthouse is a concrete octagonal tower on the eastern pier in the harbour.
The tower is 7.1 meters tall and has a rich history, dating back to the 1800s when a lens, lamp and lantern were delivered to Grand Bank to be used to distinguish the Grand Bank port from the house lights. In the 1950’s it used battery power, but since it has been converted to operate on solar energy instead.
Today, the lighthouse is a popular tourist attraction, with a long pier and nearby parks that look out to the lighthouse.
