An important site of worship, the Grotte Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes stands strong in its purpose. It is also historically significant to the town as it was visited by countless pilgrims and the sisters daily at one point in time. The site still receives many visitors that gather around the cave to recite a rosary on occasions. The cave is supported by an iron infrastructure supporting 25 tons of stones. A marble altar sits in the center of the cave with a statue of the first nun of the parish represented praying to the Blessed Virgin placed on a flower bed. With many odes to its history, the cave is a delight for visitors interested in the town’s history, religious roots, or even a calm place to meditate.
