André Gagnon was a pianist, composer, conductor, arranger, and actor born in Saint-Pacôme in 1936. His music is known to mix classical and pop styles, shown in his compositions Neiges, Smash, Chevauchee, Surprise, Donna, and Mouvements.
He composed for TV such as La Souris Verte, Vivre en ce Pays, Format 60, Format 30, Techno-Flash, and Les Forges de Saint-Mauric. Also, theatre productions include La Poudre aux Yeux, Doña Rosita, Terre d’Aube, La Dame de Chez Maxim’s, and Wouf-Wouf.
Gagnon won the Juno Award for Album of the Year in 1977, the Juno Awards for Instrumental Album of the Year in 1995 and 1978, and the Juno Award for Classical Album of the Year in 2014.
