Raised in Fruitvale, Barret Jackman is a former NHL star who was drafted 17th overall in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
Jackman started playing Junior “A” and “B” with the Beaver Valley Nitehawks, Fruitville, in the 1996-97 season.
Jackman played almost 900 games NHL games and, in 2003, won the Calder Memorial Trophy as the NHL’s Rookie of the Year. Jackman played in two IIHF World Junior Championships for Team Canada, winning bronze medals on each occasion.
