Mellisa first began sliding at 15, and within three months, she became the national champion at the skeleton. In 2006 Mellisa won a Bronze Olympic Medal in the sport skeleton. Mellisa remains one of the top skeleton riders in the world, winning bronze at the 2011 World Championships and silver at the 2012 World Championships.
