Located between Maitland and Prescott is one of the oldest houses in Ontario. The Homewood Museum is a two-story stone house built in 1799-1800 by the Jones family. The Jones family are British Loyalists who arrived in eastern Ontario in 1784, and six generations of the family have lived here.
The home was donated to the Ontario Heritage Foundation in 1974 and is now open for the public to visit and learn stories of the Jones family. Their stories are represented through a collection of artifacts from the family dated back from the 18th to 19th century and passed down through generations. This includes period rooms in French-Canadian and British design with original photographs, porcelain, furniture, and much more!
