Joshua Kutryk was named Canada’s newest astronaut as the country marked its 150th birthday.
Kutryk was raised on a cattle farm in eastern Alberta. He enjoys backcountry skiing, cycling, mountaineering and paragliding.
From 2007 to 2011, Lieutenant-Colonel Kutryk served as a CF-18 fighter pilot in Bagotville, near La Baie. It is one of two bases in the country using the CF-18 Hornet fighter/interceptor.
Kutryk was one of two recruits the Canadian Space Agency selected in July 2017 through the fourth Canadian astronaut recruitment campaign.
In 1987, Ghislain Bouchard wrote the script for a historical play to be performed for one season only as part of the 150th anniversary of Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean. Thirty-five years later, this work, ” fabulous,” is still on stage and plays her story night after night.
Multimedia technology is used in an innovative way to coat the legendary history of a kingdom once again. Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean was created due to this great epic, whose visuals offer an even more realistic perspective.

The century-old little white house in Saguenay symbolizes Chicoutimi and the surrounding area’s courage, tenacity, and determination. A popular attraction among tourists and locals alike, the Museum has become a must-see attraction over the years.
The house suffered two floods in 1947 and 1996 – and survived.

This cultural and tourist center is more than a museum, as it preserves and promotes Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean’s heritage and furthers arts and history. Located in the heart of the city and surrounded by a beautiful park, La Pulperie is an outstanding historical site. At the beginning of the 20th century, this museum tells the story of the Compagnie de pulpe de Chicoutimi and its impact on the region and city.

Fishing enthusiasts will enjoy discovering Atlantic salmon and sea trout in the Saguenay at the Rivière-à-Mars fishway just outside the city. As well as walking along the observation trail, you will also be able to see an underwater viewpoint of salmon and sea trout.
