In 1930, the St. John River Storage Company of New Brunswick built the dam at the intersection of the Madawaska River and Lake Témiscouata. It was then sold in 1963 to Hydro-Quebec and reconstructed in 1990. The dam now functions as a means of filtering and regulating the hydroelectric equipment’s water supply. A pedestrian bridge for visitors and cyclists offers a view of the water. There are interpretive and informative signs around the dam, explaining its history, specific dimensions, and details about the plants nearby.
