la Bataille-des-Cèdres

National Historic Site of Canada

This is a national historic site for the Battle of the Cedars. During the American Revolutionary War in 1776, American soldiers occupied Montreal and built an outpost at Les Cedres. To protect the city, a small group of the King’s Liverpool and Aboriginal people attacked the American troops, which resulted in the troops surrendering.

Aside from the historical value, the site is also located near the St. Lawrence River and has an agricultural setting, making it a beautiful place to visit. There are no visible remains of the battle. A plaque was erected in 1980 to commemorate the battle site. Surrounded by a small fence, the cairn stands in a small grassed plot at the edge of the Chemin du Fleuve, surrounded by farmland and trees.
