Mackenzie Bison Sanctuary

03

The Mackenzie Bison Sanctuary is the landmark of Northern Canada’s most wood buffalo or bison population, which appear along Highway 3 near Fort Providence.

Along with the area, there are roadside parks, including North Arm and Chan Lake, where travellers can take a short break from their long trips, take a walk around the parks, and explore the beautiful landscape for curiosity. Be careful on seeing the bison or wood buffalos around the area since they are known to be aggressive once you are near their space. Always practice safety measures while enjoying taking photos at a safe distance. It is recommended to take pictures of the wildlife animals inside the car, which is common practice for travellers travelling in the North.
