There are hundreds of species of our feathered friends to be spotted around Mackenzie, including plenty of rare migratory birds, stopping in for a brief rest on long journeys.

To monitor bird migrations, the Mackenzie Nature Observatory maintains a bird banding station at Mugaha Marsh in Mackenzie.
