History

The former Amos courthouse was built in 1922. It was the first courthouse in the Abitibi region, housing the first jail and a registry office.

In 1978, it was converted into an office building, then in 2004, the City of Amos acquired the building.

In addition to being considered the first durable and stylish house in the region, it has now become an interpretation center on the life and work of the man nicknamed the Father of Abitibi.
