Martin Mars Water Bombers

03

From the Sproat Lake Beach, you can see red Martin Mars Water Bombers and their Coulson Flying Tankers Martin Mars Flying Boat Base.

These two World War 2 aircraft are the largest floatplanes ever built. In 1960, they were converted for use as water bombers and have been fighting forest fires ever since. They were used for forest firefighting.
