The general public is welcome to prospect for and gather spectacular geodes loaded with minerals like quartz and chalcedony on the 350 million-year-old volcano’s former eruption site. And you can go home with your loot! Translucent quartz, amethyst, smoky quartz, agates, carnelian, and jasper are all found in the Mount Lyall geodes.
