Experience the life of what is believed to be the only complete Ukrainian homestead still in existence and is now a National Historic Site.
The site features an extremely rare Canadian example of a traditional long-shingle Eastern-European style roof, and the 1908 bunkhouse contains a handmade clay oven. Built between 1897 and 1910 by Wasyl and Anna Negrych and was still run according to traditional practice until two of the children’s deaths in the 1980s. They never introduced electricity, sewer, or telephone lines.
