The Northport Rear Range lighthouse is still in working order. In 1899 it was relocated and enclosed and has been in working condition ever since. The last known lighthouse keeper was James Andrew Gallant from 1948-1961. Although a lighthouse keeper is no longer needed, the light still guides the fishermen through foggy days when it is needed.
