Nuu-Chah-Nulth Whaling Canoe Sculpture

05

This yellow cedar-carved sculpture is a tribute to the culture of the local Tseshaht and Hupacasath First Nations. It depicts the strength of the whalers who went to sea with spears and wooden canoes to hunt some of the largest sea mammals.

This Sculpture was initially housed in the Royal British Columbia Museum, but it is now at the Victoria Quay in Port Alberni for your enjoyment.
