Our Lady of the Way Catholic Church

08

Our Lady of the Way Church is a small but historic church that can be found right off the Alaska Highway in Haines Junction. Originally built in 1942 as Quonset Huts for the American Army, the building was then converted into a Catholic church in 1954, which continues to provide services for the locals of Haines Junction.

A small garden can be found on the walkway up to the church, and due to the previous history of the building, the inside of the church is structured uniquely. Information boards containing a brief history of the church can also be found on the premises.

The history of this church gives it a uniquely beautiful structure that is worth seeing for yourself. That, along with the garden out front, makes it a great place to stop for some pictures on your way through Haines Junction.
