Parc National de Plaisance

07

The name says it all, the National Park of Pleasure. Take some time off to enjoy yourself, get out with your family, or get on a biking trail with your best friend. This incredible park has so much to offer with its five pedestrian circuits right in the midst of a booming ecosystem of birds, fish, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians, all actively living their lives. Adventure to the unmissable Zizanie-des-Marais course in its almost exclusively floating path among the marsh and the Marais-aux-Rubaniers course with its pier-like path. The trails range from a 1.1km (20 min) walk to a greater 5.6km (2h 15m) hike. Other activities here include biking, supervised swimming (campers only pool), canoeing, kayaking, boating, as well as enjoying a rabaska paddle. You can rent a stand-up paddle board, canoe, kayak, and other means of water transport.

The park is consistently offering lessons and programs for children and adults alike. Never been on a Rabaska? Don’t even know what that is? Here’s your chance! Take the Bayou Tour, where you – under the careful instruction of a naturalist park warden – discover how the French-Canadian explorers travelled across North America during the 17th and 18th centuries. For the amphibian enthusiast, Frog Singing Lessons with free entry to find out where those throaty songs originate. Star gazing at Parc National de Plaisance is especially glamorous as the light pollution from big cities cannot bleach out the starry skies. More activities are available based on the ‘calendar of discover activities’ programming form on the park’s website. Check out this form for information on your current season.
