The Carseland Weir was established to help control the flow of the Bow River near Carseland. Because of the fishing and gathering areas around the weir, a desirable habitat has been provided for Double-crested Cormorants, gulls, terns, and American White Pelicans. My photo shows an American White Pelican about to land in the turbulent water in front of the weir.
