Petit-Salut Blockhouse

Petit Salut Blockhouse Edmundston

02

Petit-Salut Blockhouse is a small fort that was built as part of a defensive line that extended as far as Quebec during the Aroostook Bloodless War in 1841.

The fort was destroyed by lightning in 1855 and rebuilt in 2000. Originally Edmundston was named Petit-Sault (Little Falls) in reference to the waterfalls located where the Madawaska River merges into the Saint John River.
