Petrolia Discovery

Petrolia is billed as “Canada’s Victorian Oil Town.” Petrolia Discovery explores the early days of the world’s oil boom. The audience is offered a one-of-a-kind glimpse into history. In addition to the oldest hand-dug wells from the 1850s, as well as the refineries and machine shops that abound.

Petrolia has an incredibly long and deep oil heritage in the form of the wells themselves. A visit to the museum includes both historical displays and a chance to see an authentic oilfield from the 1860s.

Guild Chocolates

Victoria Hall is synonymous with Petrolia. Built in 1889, this National Historic Site of Canada is home to the Town Hall and a theatre. Victoria Hall is a beautiful building with a tall steeple and early 19th-century European architecture and is iconic in the community of Petrolia.

Perfect for photos or to admire on a sunny day, Victoria Hall in Petrolia is a must-see.

Lorne C. Henderson Conservation Area

Lorne C. Henderson Conservation Area is a delightful nature experience. Wildlife ponds and a nature trail surround this family-oriented campground. There is a 25 ft. x 50 ft. swimming pool, a modern washroom facility, and a mini-golf course on the 135 ha (330 acres) site. This Conservation Area offers both overnight and seasonal camping. The historic Victoria Playhouse and fine-dining restaurants are located minutes away.

Home Town of Dale Hunter

Dale Hunter is a former professional hockey player playing over 1400 games in the NHL. Hunter currently owns and coaches the OHL’s London Knights.

Hunter was born and raised in Petrolia and had two brothers, Mark and Dave, who also own the London Knights and played in the NHL.

Dale Hunter is one of Canada’s most well-known hockey icons due to his incredible work with the London Knights and his historic NHL career.

Home Town of Michael Leighton

Born and raised in Petrolia, Michael Leighton is a former NHL goalie who played over 600 games of pro hockey between the NHL and AHL. Leighton was drafted 165th overall in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks and would go on to play games for the Chicago Blackhawks, Philadelphia Flyers, and Carolina Hurricanes.

Leighton retired from pro hockey in 2019 but is still the pride and joy of Petrolia.

Kingswell Glen

The 18-hole Kingswell Glen Golf Club is a semi-private golf course that opened in 1890. Kingswell Glen Golf Club measures 6208 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 118 and a 70.2 USGA rating. The course features three sets of tees for different skill levels. It is a great place to visit solo or with friends and family.
