Another important landmark in this historically rich town is the Plaque de Médéric Blouin. It was erected in 1973 to honour the arrival of Mederic Blouin, the first Blouin from France in Canada.

The plaque says:

“Honour to Mederic Blouin 1641-1707
This monument was erected to commemorate the arrival in Canada of the first Blouin from Luçon in France; he settled on this lot in 1667.”

  1. I am a descendant of Mederic Blouin. I am curious about why role he played in the pioneering of Quebec.

What was Mederic Blouin’s occupation? Was he a farmer or businessman?
