This walking trail, known as the “Captain’s Walk,” is located in the middle of the downtown area of Matane. The trail gives a wonderful view of the Matane Salmon River, boarding its shores. Various informative panels on the path educate visitors about the stories of well-known marine captains that have left a mark on the local history.

On top of learning about the region’s historical marine exploits, guests can admire a ship replica on site. Several commemorative plaques are dispersed on the walking trail to honour the lives of the captains and their families. This area is great for observing the salmon in their natural habitat while taking a leisurely walk with your pets. Spend a calming afternoon alone or with your travelling companions at the Promenade des Capitaines!
