Red Bay National Historic Site is a preservation park well known for bowhead whale sightings. The site contains many hiking trails with interactive panels signifying the historical significance of each area. Visitors are also encouraged to look through the interpretation center, where they can see a massive chalupa used by traditional whalers and massive, assembled whale bones. Boats are also available for rental to be used on the water, and visitors can observe the remains of what was once known as the first large-scale whale oil production plant in the world.
