During annual migration south from their nesting grounds in the Canadian Arctic, an estimated 50,000 snow geese take residence around the park. That immense number can easily double before packing up and moving southwards. Each day, they fly out of the city to the harvested fields to chow down, and at dusk, they return to spend the night in the safety of the water. It’s a wonderful place to take children to view special aspects of nature. Many other species of birds will be seen there throughout the year.
This is a great park with a 5km loop around the lake. It’s a wonderful place for a picnic, with easy walking trails, calming fountains along the way, and various bird-watching habitats. There are tables to enjoy a meal, good access to clean bathrooms, and some pubs and nice restaurants.
