Résidence George-Knight-Nesbitt

03

The Eastern Townships saw the construction of a number of fine high-style Second Empire residences during the 1870s and 1880s. Originally called the Lismore House, it was built for Cowansville mill-owner George K. Nesbitt and is its most outstanding surviving example.

Lismore remained in the Nesbitt family until the 1950s, when it was donated to the Anglican diocese of Montreal. Since 1957 it has served as a home for the aged known as the Nesbitt Anglican Residence.
