Notre-Dame de l’Assomption monument

The Notre-Dame de l’Assomption monument in Rogersville was designated a Provincial Historic Site to celebrate the accomplishments of Monsignor Marcel-François Richard (1847-1915), educator, colonizer, and leader of the Acadian renaissance. He was named the Father of Modern Acadia.

The current Monument was built in 1972 under the direction of Father Alban Albert. Mgr. Richard’s objective in creating the monument was to provide the Acadian people with a place of pilgrimage and assembly. This site is a place of worship where pilgrimages and religious ceremonies continue to be held.
