In 1957, Manitoba Forestry Association created the Sandilands Forest Discovery Centre. It offers educational programming centred on the preservation of forests.
A museum building, a ranger station originally constructed in 1926 by the Dominion Forest Service and has since been renovated, a small forest observation tower, a suspension bridge crossing the Whitemouth River, and the Tree Planting Car are all structures that can be found on the site.
The facility is currently only open by appointment.
