Sir Henri Charles Wilfrid Laurier, lawyer, journalist, and politician, was the 7th Prime Minister of Canada, in office from July 1896, to October 1911.

In 1855, the municipality was reestablished as Saint-Lin-de-Lachenaye, with Carolus Laurier, father of Sir Wilfrid Laurier, as the first mayor.
