In the 1870s, a tragic accident occurred where a marine sank, killing off 550 during an accident. Bodies were later recovered, and unclaimed ones were taken and buried within Terence Bay town to remember them. A monument was placed in SS Atlantic Heritage Park as a sacred memorial to promote the story of the disaster that took place so long ago.
Volunteers overlooking the care of the park have been able to add lovely walking trails and a boardwalk to provide visitors with a warm experience over time. Ocean views can be seen from any area in the park, so visit during your stay in Terence Bay to soak in not only nature but the great history the town holds!
