The Strathcona House is a replica of the house of Donald Smith, also known as Lord Strathcona. He lived here in the 1800s as an officer of the Hudson Bay Company.

Lord Strathcona oversaw the trading affairs of the company while establishing trading posts, with this house as his headquarters. Additionally, he was famous for driving in the last spike of the Canadian Railway.

This house is one of the most famous buildings in Labrador! It stands today as a cultural interpretation center for the community and tourists.
