The design and layout of Tom Thomson Park were inspired by the work of Tom Thomson, one of the most influential artists. Thomson spent many days in the village of South River.

The park boasts beautiful gardens, a walking path, a staging area, a boat launch and an 18 hole disc golf course. The park is located at the north end of Tom Thomson Lane.
Tom Thomson is a great place to take photos.
There is no main waterfall, and this is really just a collection of small rapids and chutes.
The South River pours over a wide expanse of exposed bedrock, splitting into a number of narrower channels, and passing under the road via two concrete bridges.
You can also walk along the road for about 200 m to a short driveway on the left that leads to a parking area overlooking the river just upstream from the falls.

The Crystal Cave is a Mineral, Gem and Fossil Exhibit, Crystal Shoppe, Gallery, Learning Centre and Artisan Village.

South River is home to Mikisew Provincial Park on the shores of Eagle Lake.
This is a quiet park offering private campsites and sandy beaches on Eagle Lake, which provides a great fishing spot.

Located between Huntsville and North Bay, South River Brewing is South River’s favourite brewery.
Founded in 2009 and one of the original Northern Ontario breweries, we brew meticulously hand-made small-batch craft beer utilizing locally foraged ingredients whenever possible.
The trail is located in the northwest corner of the Park.
Park permits are required for the use of these trails and backcountry rules apply.
