d’Obadjiwan–Fort-Témiscamingue

Founded by the French over three centuries ago in 1720, the Obadjiwan-Fort Témiscamingue is a historical wonder. Rich with regional history, it was a trading post in 1679, a property of the North West Company in 1795 and acquired by the Hudson’s Bay Company in 1821 until 1902.

This location has been the point of business rivalries between fur traders for two centuries and has been home to the Aboriginal presence for roughly 6000 years. Visitors can visit the fort and take in the surrounding beauty of the pebble beach. It also houses various exhibitions like the “enchanted forest” and “The Voyageurs.” This scenic location is the perfect historical tourist site!
