Have an interest in history and learning more about fallen heroes? Welland has several war memorials throughout the town that might pique your interest.

The Welland Crowland War Memorial is a granite sculpture at Chippawa Park displaying a male soldier and a woman, signifying the theme of “service and sacrifice.” It was built in 1939 to honour fallen World War I soldiers.

Another memorial grounds in Welland is the Battle of Cook’s Mills National Historic Site of Canada, which is the location of the last battle of the War of 1812 that had occurred in the Niagara region. It features a cairn and a plaque dedicated to the fallen soldiers of the battle. The Welland Historical Museum also features many insightful war-related exhibits as well.
