Ancienne prison de L’Orignal

02

The oldest jail in Ontario

Built in 1825, L’Orignal is known as Ontario’s oldest prison and the second oldest in Canada, operating until 1998. Still in service is Ontario’s oldest courthouse, located on the prison’s second floor.

In 2007, the prison opened its doors to the public as an essential piece of Ontario’s heritage, conducting public tours, events, and activities like escape rooms, murder mystery dinners, and more.
