Maligne Canyon is the deepest canyon in Jasper National Park, with a depth of more than 50 metres at certain points.
Maligne River, which originates at Maligne lake, flows underground from Medicine Lake, till it reaches Maligne Canyon. At the canyon formed due to the geological formation of soluble limestone bedrock (karst topography), the underground streams join the force, to become the mighty flowing water that still whittles the canyon.
Maligne Canyon Ice Walk
Exploring the Canyon in the wintertime is perhaps even more spectacular than in summer. Join a guided Icewalk and walk directly along the canyon’s frozen floor.
