The Oiseau Rock Trail is a 5 km hiking trail (10 km round trip) through Migizi Kiishkaabikaan (Algonquin) forest.
Discover amazing views from the many lookouts and dip your feet in the Ottawa River on the river trail or take a swim in the lake at the summit. This is a must-see to see panoramic views of the Ottawa River.
The rocky cliff, 150m high, borders the Ottawa River and has a sacred character. Native people believed a man had been turned to stone as he raised his arms to the sky. The rock is covered with red ocher paintings and rock art figures dating back centuries. Today, the Rocher-à-l’Oiseau site has a path that leads hikers to the top of the rock. The path is punctuated with interpretive panels on the history and nature found on the site. In addition, the forest is home to four species of rare plants and trees: Virginia Juniper, Narrow-Leaved Tea, Aromatic Sumac, and Douglas-fir.
